On behalf of SEQUA gGmbH, APPLICATIO is carrying out a project evaluation for a vocational training partnership project between the Erfurt Chamber of Skilled Crafts and vocational schools in South Africa. The project cooperates closely with Eastcape Midlands TVET College, Lovedale TVET College and Port Rex Technical High School. The evaluation serves to determine the status quo (implementation) and, if applicable, to plan a further project phase or follow-up project.
The project began on 1st December 2016 in the Eastern Cape in South Africa as a vocational training partnership between the Erfurt Chamber of Crafts (HWK) and three different vocational training institutions. The first three-year project phase to be examined aims to improve the qualification and employability of graduates of initial and continuing vocational training in the region in selected trades, primarily motor vehicles. To this end, the HWK planned, among other things, to involve the local economy more closely in the design of the corresponding training courses, further training for teachers in South Africa and Germany, initial pilot training courses with the revised training material and the provision of the necessary technical equipment for high-quality and modern training.
In order to achieve the goals set, the HWK Erfurt works closely with projects already running locally, in particular the vocational training projects of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
